Waiver Wire Week 6: Shaheed Gets the Big Bucks

Boom! Fire Ready Aim came out swinging this week, dropping $2M on WR Rashid Shaheed, the single highest bid of Week 6. League sources tell me that is the biggest number on the board and the clear statement of the week. Money is nice, but championships are better, so the question is whether Shaheed becomes a weekly starter or a very expensive lesson.

Gridiron Geeks went the other direction with a more measured $500K bid on WR Jahan Dotson, and that is a solid price for a receiver with upside. If you want to see how the rest of your roster stacks up before making your next move, the rosters page is the place to start.

The rest of the claims were cheap depth moves at the $425K league minimum: PK Andre Szmyt for Vitside Mafia, TE Darnell Washington for Dead Cap Walking, QB Tanner McKee for The Mariachi Ninjas, and WR Josh Cameron for Music City Mafia. I'm told several of those were first-come-first-served adds, and every one of them still signed at the league-minimum salary, because no pickup in this league is ever free. Those are desperation or injury-replacement moves, and they will be judged on whether the players actually produce.

Overall it was six claims and $4.20M spent, which tells you owners are paying attention to the wire.
