Lookin' forward to it!!

Heads up to everyone my wife signed us up for zip lining on Saturday so I'll be out from about 1-5pm PT. I don't have a 1st round pick but if anything goes haywire with the draft, I'll be offline for a little bit.

No prob. But you haven't learned yet to let the "scheduling agent" know of your availability? LOL :stirpot:

TRADES TRADES TRADES!
1.01 gets moved today! A little surprised MWC wasn't able to get more than the 1.13 and a 2016 1st... Richardson was more highly coveted coming outta school and I paid a ridiculous amount to move up one bloody spot *barf*

The Central division only getting stronger... :wall: :wall: :wall:

If the rookie salaries would have been what they'll be starting in 2017 would you have made the trade with 1.4 and a future first?

1.04, probably not... But the 1.06 and a future 1st I would've strongly considered doing w/ the lower wage scale for the RBs. WRs get a boost in salary, so Cooper/White would cost more next year than this year while Gurley/Gordon would cost less.

Also, the new rookie wage scale starts next year according to the poll that we all voted for. 2017 was when I had suggested it get into affect in that mega long thread.

So Scott... Who's going 1.01???
Gurley? Gordon? Cooper? White?
Who? Who? Who?

Who knows? :??:

Salary will be a big decision though. While I need an RB *really* bad as I got nothing behind Bell, 2 million more in salary is a hard thing to swallow. Cooper might look nice next to all those WRs. :yippee:

Unless someone else trades up that is. Come and get it!

Not really surprising considering how much time we spent devaluing that pick in the rookie salary conversation.

That thread certainly didn't help.... It was more the RB wage scale that was being argued about in that thread, not the 1.01 in general. Hard to not take the top RB at the 1.01 though (although it could be argued that there is no consensus RB this year w/ both having positives and negatives), but Cooper/White are a solid choice if you didn't want that big salary.

Also didn't help that teams are lacking much cap space at this point of the offseason. Most probably take into account their picks into the FA acquisitions. Our Graham trade would've totally thrown everything off for you.

I'm a little bummed I was unable to put my money where my mouth is and make a play for Gurley (despite a pretty massive effort)... but excited to welcome Ameer PeeWee Abdullah to the Decleaters!!! Was worried after the draft that he might not be around at 1.9, Detroit is the perfect place for him. Can't wait to see him shred the Bears for 150yd game.

IMO with Coleman falling to 1.13 this trade worked out nicely for MWC.

Certainly worked out for me since I would have been targetting either QB at 1.13 and the Dogs go and take both right in front of that pick. Needless to say I'd have been ticked. LOL Gordon will help in my run this year and provide me solid RB for the next 4 years beyond. Unless he's TRich, Jr that is. :wall:

Yup. He'll be the starter in 2016 behind one of the best OL's in the NFL and his salary starts at $450,000. I also don't expect my 2016 1st to be much higher than 2.01. That 2016 2nd rounder is a crapshoot though :stirpot:

Join the party, Amish! We need to find a 4th CLE RB to join the Central division w/ myself, BTP, and Executioners each owning one...

If BTP didn't send me that offer, I was leaning towards Duke as well... But wasn't looking forward to drafting him when I think they'll #FeedTheCrow! Was pretty frustrating owning CLE RBs last year though.

Got quite a bit of draft capital going into next season's draft :yippee: Hopefully it's a good one!

That 2016 mid 1st you traded me will be nice to have when draft season comes around again :goteam:
:dukes: :dukes: :dukes:

Can't say I think there's a no brainer front runner for the Central Division this season. Strong starting lineups in our division.

I've said it before... I think that the Central has gotta be the toughest/strongest division this season. Dunno if the other divisions can say that all four teams have starting rosters as competitive as the ones in the Central.

Annual self critique write up time

1.1: Apparently I was thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis close to getting the 1.1 from MWC but Amish took the double first deal. Made several lucrative offers to Amish as well but it was not meant to be. Boo (Carlos Hyde was the main piece in 90% of my offers)

1.9: RB: Ameer Abdullah. So glad to land this guy here. Will likely be taking him at 1.5/1.6 (with another pick at 1.10) on a team I took over this offseason... So I'm a true believer. Was like the only I guy besides the obvious first rounders I had an eye on pre-draft, so it really was a no brainer when my turn came up. Really gotta thank Duron Carter the 1.15 and Vitside Mafia for really making this union possible.
I think it's going to be magical

2.5: RB: David Johnson. A player I would have been highly considering at the 1.15 had I not traded up, but that's prob selection bias speaking. That said, my shiny new toy was drafted in the same place that Jeremy Hill was last year, and although he's not the same level of prospect, the situations are similar and actually a little more favorable to DJ (Gio > Ellington)... but the NFC-W is pretty tough to run.

3.9: WR: Devante Davis. Undrafted but went to Chip/Philly. From UNLV and I picked right before LVElite so I hope I c-blocked him on the selection. If he can make the roster as a UDFA there's not a lot on that roster keeping him off the field. Prefer Ty Montgomery, but should know where I stand way sooner with Davis.

1.04) Kevin White: The #4 pick this year ended up being a pretty easy pick given that it was a top tier of 4 players amongst the majority's draft boards. I initially wasn't on board the Kevin White train, but over time I purchased my ticket and am pretty amped to have him rostered. He's been listed as the top WR for a lot of different draftnik's this offseason. Shouldn't have to worry about double coverages w/ Alshon on the other side of the field. Feel pretty confident he won't bust the way Tavon Austin did. His size, measurables, and situation are favourable to be productive Y1.

1.06) DeVante Parker: A bit surprised that Parker was available at the 6 spot, I expected him to go at 5 but w/ Perriman getting picked I was pretty stoked. Back in February when I made the move to go up from the 1.8 to the 1.4, DeVante Parker was who I was targeting with that pick. The Dolphins have been loading up w/ offensive weapons this offseason, so it's not as clear a path to making an impact right away, but he's going into a stable situation and should take over as Tannehill's go to target.

2.01) Received this pick in the Jimmy Graham trade. Traded away for BTPs 2016 1st and Amish's 2016 2nd. Net total from that trade: DeVante Parker, Buck Allen, MWC's 2016 1st, BTP's 2016 1st, Amish's 2016 2nd. Thank you everyone for not offering Graham a contract during the tagging period, and thank you Seahawks for trading for him :) Having all of these draft picks should come in hand if I'm needing to bolster my lineup down the stretch. Now here's to hoping that Eifert and ASJ produce decent seasons for me! With Duke Johnson being the pick by BTP, it'll be interesting to see how the CLE backfield shakes out w/ all 3 of the CLE RBs rostered by different teams in the Central division.

2.07) Tyler Lockett: Didn't think he'd last to the 2.10 w/ Pigskins picking at 2.08 and my next pick at 2.10. I think there's a lot of opportunity in SEA w/ the current WR depth chart.

2.10) Buck Allen: I think he'll be the backup to Forsett to start this season and he's an injury away from being the top RB in a Trestman offense.

UDFA) George Farmer: Really intrigued by this guy. Former #1 WR recruit above OBJ, Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans, Brandin Cooks, and a few more but dealt with some injuries and went undrafted. He flashed that he's still got some wheels after putting up a 4.35 on his pro day and got offered a good amount of gtd money from DAL to sign with them. Don't think getting a WR gig in DAL is that far fetched since it's Dez and the junky bunch.

Soooo, trading for the 1.01. Why? Basically starting the off-season before the 2013 season I decided that after nearly a decade of doing what I was doing it wasn't working so I needed to change gears and go crazy. So I look at 2015 as my last really good shot at the championship before rebuilding again so I need to get aggressive. So immediate impact was needed and the 1.01 was up for grabs. What I needed was an RB but the salary had me on the edge but I went for it anyway. Sounds like I got it just in time, I was going to counter offer but then just decided to take the deal in front of me. :goteam:

1.01 - RB, Melvin Gordon
Shock was heard from the other 15 teams. WTF? Not Gurley or even Cooper? White is a Bear, why not him? Immediate production. I can't sit on Gurley possibly being on the PUP during the critical double-headers and while rookie WRs were amazing last year you just can't count on that. So that's leads me to Gordon who will be *the guy* and won't be in much of a RBBC (it seems). He'll start week 1 and will have all the chance to be productive. Long term for the next 4 years he won't be that far behind Gurley. Beyond that who cares. LOL

2.13 - RB, Jeremy Langford
Damn what a loooooong wait. I tried like crazy to trade up to get Winston or Mariota as I need QB really bad but the Dogs were bound and determined to draft both QBs. :wall: Thus I wait. Had Mike Davis or Josh Robinson on my radar and they both went right before this pick. At this point I really considered QB, Bryce Petty but just thought it was too early and WR Justin Hardy but I have a lot of young WRs and no talent at RB so went with Langford. Do I think he'll replace Forte in a year or two? Probably not, but he'll have plenty of opportunity if Forte goes down and you never know. Which is all you want from a lotto pick.

3.13 - RB, Zach Zenner
Go with the high upside RB as a what the heck. So long as he doesn't decide to slice guys up for a living he might be a solid RB3 in a couple years. Plus I *knew* die hard Lions fan JMac would take with the next pick so I scooped him up. :dukes: The Z man actually went undrafted in a 12 team 4 round rookie draft in another league and I added him in waivers. Cheap.

2015 Outlook

So I'm razor thin with salary cap, can't sign more then 2 free agents at minimum. Never been that thin before so we'll see.
QB solid but one hangnail and my season is over.
RB looks a lot better with Gordo in the mix. Bell/DWill - Gordon, Helu not a bad combo.
WR is studs and young depth. If Latimer, Adams and/or Stills step up I'm all set here.
TE is a mess, hope Witten goes down and Escobar takes over.

We shall see! :yippee:

I wasn't that shocked you took MG, Amish. That's congruent with your needs and win-window. Makes total sense. I don't know why you think he won't lose 3rd downs and the occasional series to Oliver and Woodhead. VERY high expectations. When you said you were going to shock I thought it might be White.

Really surprised you weren't more excited for the Hyde/Olsen offer and declined that and mulled the Hyde/Cam offer more.

Hyde/Olsen puts you in a better position to go for it this year and still offers you some youth/years at RB that you got in Gordon... and you'd have an extra 2m+ to try to nab a hot free agent pick up with.

Well, just not that high on Hyde the more I thought on it. I like him, I do. But there is more risk there then I'd like. I can see him being replaced in a year or two. I don't expect Gordon to be the "bell cow"...heck, who is these days other then a couple guys. But as my RB 2 who can carry me during Bell's suspension I like it.

Understandable. I'm pretty much in the same boat where I don't really believe in him. Getting a bit of a Monte Ball/Shonn Greene vibe from him. Although I had tons of offers for those guys coming in before their sophomore season... don't think I've had a single offer for Hyde yet.
