2009 Upcoming league dates and actions

Ok, posting this instead of emailing the commish just so I get it straight and it may help others as well. The offseason is upon us and thus a lot of things will soon be happening in the league. Below are a list of dates and actions as I understand them from the constitution. Looking for clarification or corrections.

One thing to clarify: End of our season is this weekend but the constitution mentions week 17. So I take it we wait until after week 17 for most stuff.

Dec 28th

• Last game of the NFL season

Dec 29th

• Players dropped until Feb 15th still have their 50% current year cap hit count still for 08.
• Teams have until Feb 15th to clear players off their IR and Taxi Squads
• Roster limits (min and max) are lifted (commish will need to make that adjustment) per new rule.
• Taxi Squad expanded to 3 per rule change
• Contract cap expands to 80 per rule change
• Trading is allowed once again

Feb 1st

• Must pay up for 2009 season

Feb 1st - Feb 15th

• Tagging period

Feb 15th

• Start of the 2009 season
• Commish will drop any unkeepable players not tagged, everyone still on a roster get's their raise and contracts are reduced by 1

Feb 16th - Feb 28th

• Teams can make offers on tagged players

Mar 1st - Mar 7th

• Team can match offers on tagged players

Mar 15th

• Offseason FA auction begins

May 2nd - Rookie draft

Aug 16th

• Teams must get back down under the max roster requirements
• Rosters will be set to 22 max, min of 17 (however you must have 20 under contract at all times, 17 active plus 3 TS for example) once the season starts.
• Rookies drafted in May must be assigned a contract or else the default of 1 will stay

Sept 2nd

• Last day that players can be brought up on the FA auction. Players still on auction will have a week to finish.

Sept 9th

• FA auction is over

Last 2 dates assume that Sept 10th will be the first NFL game (first Thursday after Labor Day).

First of all thanks for posting that here!! This will really help everyone including myself remember all the rules/dates. Just looking this over quickly, I think for the most part every thing is accurate to the best of my knowledge, the only clarification I see is in regards the minimum rosters...

Aug 16th

With the new 3 man practice squad, teams can have 17 active players and 3 practice squad players. Its simply 20 players under contract.

Roster maximums are enforced Aug 16th like you mentioned but roster minimums are only enforced during the regular season (Week 1 through Week 17) So in theory you could sign all your players in late August if you want.
