In case of a 18 game NFL season.

I just wanted to get a thread going in case the NFL moves to an 18 game season. If you've had similar discussions in other leagues you may have some ideas we can take a look at.

I'm anticipating that we will need to change our schedule, either regular season, playoffs or both, and that it could it could make sense to have fewer divisions, 2 divisions would give us 22 games (14 division and 8 non-division)for example, (2 inside the division and 1 time for everyone else.

My assumptions are that if they do increase the season they'll actually add 3 weeks figuring in an extra bye week for each team.

We've had similar discussions in my league and it resolves around new division alignments and extra games.

I think for this league it would be very easy: Less double header weeks and nothing else needs to change. :sweet:

So right now we have 5 double header weeks. If we get an extra 3 weeks then have 3 less double header weeks, only 2 extra then 2 less double headers. In particular get rid of them in weeks 1 and 2 for sure.

Sounds pretty easy for this league.

I agree with Scott's take.

I like that idea, we'll have to watch and see what happens with bye weeks because we'll want to avoid doubleheaders for those weeks. So I guess we'll just have to be flexible in that regard but that does sound like the simplest solution to me. :sweet:
