Vote!! Should we add an additional waiver window?

Post by braven112 » Fri Sep 25, 2009 8:56 pm

Should we allow an additional waiver window during the regular season. Currently there is one Waiver period that runs till Saturday at noon. This proposal would split the current waiver period into two.

Waiver Period 1 - Saturday noon thru Wednesday 9pm*
Waiver Period 2 - Wednesday 9pm thru Saturday noon*

*all times Pacific

Players dropped would be lock until the next time waivers run which would allow any dropped players in Waiver Period 1 to be able to be bid on during Waiver Period 2.

If this passes and is unanimous it would take effect this season the between weeks 4 and 5 (the poll ends in 5 days), otherwise it will take effect beginning next season.

Just to clarify I think these times would be Eastern (at least they were as I wrote them) as currently waivers end Saturday noon EST thus actually 9am Pacific.

So for Pacific times Period 1 could end Wed 6pm (9pm EST) and Period 2 would end Sat 9am (noon EST). Period 1 could end at Midnight EST/9pm Pacific if we wanted instead.

I don't think it matters in terms of the vote, but just to clarify times.

Good to clarify, I do think it would be best if these were Pacific times though, it would give everyone, no matter the time zone, enough time on Wednesday to make a claim, 6pm is when I get off work for example so I would have to make all my claims by Tuesday so if we push it out till 9pm PT 12am ET everyone has a more equal chance. It also gives everyone a few extra hours on Saturday to make a final claim if they need.

As an Eastern guy I would have no problem with this. It makes sense.

Looks like this is how we'll do waivers next season, after the season when the 2010 leagues are available can someone remind me to resetup the waiver windows?

I'll try to remember.

I've started to use Google Calendar reminders to remind me of things I need to adjust in my league settings. You can set it up to email that reminder. It's pretty good.

Thats a good idea, I was using outlook but had a computer crash and don't really fell like setting it up again, plus its nice to have something that I can easily access from any computer.
