Tagging Compensations

Could our tagging compensations use an overhaul?
We have 3 tagging compensations
1st and 2nd- Franchise
2nd- RFA2
3rd- RFA1
Anywhere to squeeze a tag that's a lone first in there? If not, maybe change RFA1 to a 2nd rounder and RFA2 to a 1st rounder?

I believe that's how it was in the beginning. I think it changed because there wasn't any action during tagging. I'd love to see all compensation be picks for the following year. IMO it would create a bidding frenzy.

I think there could be a bit of action this year with the players that have contracts expiring

Keep Franchise Tag 1st & 2nd round compensation.
Make Transition Tag 1st round compensation. (I believe it was at one time)
Have only 1 Restricted tag with 2nd round compensation.
Change all compensatory picks to the next years picks.

We just redid the compensation last year I think.
This is the first year I've really had players that I could slot and really examined it. I kinda like the way we changed it to.
Franchise - 1st and 2nd
Really expensive but a way to extend a player 1 year and if someone does bid you can get something good back. A lot of teams won't bid though because those with high picks often won't want to give them up.
Transition - None
Basically a way to give a 1 yr extension and in theory should spark bidding since there is no "downside" to bidders if the team decides not to match.
RFA1 - 3rd or RFA2 - 2nd next year
Should spark bidding since it's pretty cheap either way. RFA1 gives me the option to give more years as an extension but is the cheapest to bid on. RFA2 is also pretty cheap and had a decent amount of action last year tagging.
So when I just traded Julio it was with the assumption that I would use the RFA2 tag on him so the trade basically gave me that compensation knowing that his salary would probably be huge.
If we add in more compensation that to me means that less teams may be willing to bid and I believe when this tagging system was overhauled last year that was the main complaint that there weren't a lot of bids on tagged players so it was descending into a "what's the point" territory. Last year there was a lot more bidding IMO. This year looks to be a banner year in tagging with a large number of stud WRs and QBs all going off contract. It'll be really interesting.
Anyway, I think we need to give the current system we just changed to another year or two before we go and look at changing it yet again. My opinion of course.

It's only the 2nd off season since the rule change was voted on, I think it could use a few more seasons before we need to consider an overhaul to it again?
I'm really interested to see how strategic everyone will be with their tagging. There are a lot of great players w/ contracts that are expiring that may be tagged, so it'll be really interesting to see who is tagged and how teams manage the tags they get compensation for if someone bids on that player.

I'm with WW...we just changed this. IMO you can't keep changing "foundation" type rules in an established league. Takes away from league credibility imo.

I agree with the last few posts. With these type of rules we needs multiple season to really see the true impact. I have no problem taking another look in 4 or 5 years to see if we need to do some tweaks but an overhaul this early would be premature.
