Re: QB Matt Ryan, Transition Tag
Meant Restricted Tag, used the right tagged salary but wrong title.
Couldn't figure out how to edit the post, sorry!

Re: QB Matt Ryan, Restricted Tag
I was fighting myself the past couple weeks whether I should use my 2nd round pick to make a play on Matt Ryan...
I'm really surprised no one did, to be honest.... Especially a team like Saber who's got a bunch of 2nd round picks!
I guess since he's been inactive he hasn't been able to manage his team at all, some ugly contracts on that team that probably should've been dumped.

Yeah, I expected more action on Matt Ryan. That price is pretty reasonable for the numbers he produces. As for Saber, this might be the mother of all rebuilding years for his team.

Actually I'm not surprised at all there was no action. I thought about it but I figured that the Dogs would match just about any offer that wasn't like the crazy Rogers offer last year. So why give him extra years on Ryan? Make him take a big jump one year at a time. The only way to get extra years on a player is if someone else bids on him. I'm not going to give any team that advantage by bidding on a player with years on him. Guess we could have just upped the price with no extra years. But still.

Ya true... I guess the way to approach this one would've been exactly like what Nate did with Vit's Seahawks... Offer a reasonable contract, but tie them to that contract for a very long time...
I was considering offering a $5.7m/5yr deal... But just couldn't bring myself to do it. In redrafts, I'm a late round QB kinda guy, so tying myself to a QB for 5 years at that price didn't really sit too well with me.
Then again... Just last season DD was saying he didn't wanna spend big money on a QB and would've preferred the cheap contract @ 2.01 he traded to me last year over Ryan... A 3 year offer may have secured Matt Ryan's services. We'll never know....

I thought about it, but then I remembered I picked up Kaepernick and Bradford from Amish last year.

Sorry Scott I couldn't help myself

Yep, traded Kaepernick 2 weeks before he got his shot. Who knew.
By the way, you all should get Gabbert in any other league you're in. He's going to be a huge stud now that I traded him away. Count on it.
